If you ever had any doubt that Range Rovers could really handle extreme terrain, this video should convince you. This footage from a few years back shows both a Range Rover Sport and a Land Rover Discovery tackling the sort of extremely steep hill that give drivers white knuckles (and brown shorts) when behind the wheel.

The Range Rover Sport SVR is set to be offer pinnacle of performance for the Land Rover line. Developed by JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations team, the vehicle is powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine that pushes out 550 horsepower, and 501 lb.-ft.

Earlier this year, Jaguar Land Rover introduced a concept technology called the “transparent hood” – which lets drivers see virtually through their hood to obstacles on the road below – which could be very useful in off-road applications.

If there’s one SUV that I’m excited about driving in the coming months, it’s the new Land Rover Discovery Sport. The first of the new Discovery series, the Sport builds on the success of the already exceptional Evoque, but offering it in a larger, more family-friendly package, and at a very competitive pricepoint.

The Land Rover Defender has a wonderfully loyal following, with its roots dating back decades through Land Rover’s history of building rugged, go-anywhere off-road vehicles. This great photo shows a 2012 Defender nearly up to its headlights as it fords a fairly deep river crossing.

The Land Rover Series III is one of the greatest off-road vehicles ever built, which can be seen over and over with the number of them still being used every day in the most remote areas of the world.

This 1972 Land Rover 88 Series III looks like it’s ready to take on the African savannahs or perhaps just look great driving through the roads of Savannah, Georgia. The venerable four-wheel drive vehicle has had a full frame-off restoration, including the engine, transmission, transfer case wheels, tires, leather interior, driving lights, and roof rack. 

Land Rover and Virgin Galactic entered into a partnership earlier this year and have now revealed at least part of what they’ll be doing together, and, frankly, it’s pretty incredible. Land Rover is sponsoring a “Galactic Discovery” contest where four aspiring adventurers will win the chance to go in to space on the future Virgin Galactic spaceship.

After teasing us with a toy version of the SUV, Land Rover has finally revealed the new 2015 Discovery Sport along with full specs and pricing. The new vehicle was revealed at Spaceport America, Virgin Galactic’s U.S.

OK, we admit that Land Rover hasn’t really leaked any images of the actual 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport. What we have seen are these purportedly official scale models of the cars. We’re all waiting to see the full-size vehicles unveiled, but we can see from these tiny versions that the Discovery Sport bears more than a passing resemblance to the Land Rover Discovery Vision Concept, as well as the camouflage teaser footage that Land Rover published a few weeks back: The production vehicle doesn’t appear to have the rear doors that open backwards, as we saw on the Concept, but it appears to have the forward-swept C-pillars, a newly styled front end, with what might be the first appearance of Land Rover laser headlights (although probably not in the U.S.),

With 67-year-long production run of the Land Rover Defender coming to an end in 2015 (due to “legislative reasons”), you might just want to snatch up one of these special limited-edition models, built to honor the Defender’s long heritage of exploration.

After teasing us on several occasions in camo wrap, Range Rover has now fully revealed its very special Sport model, the SVR. Powered by a 550 horsepower 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine, the Range Rover Sport SVR is the first production Land Rover to emerge from their new Special Vehicle Operations team, and will share the SVR moniker with other vehicles to come from the team.

A while back, Land Rover announced a partnership with spacecraft maker Virgin Galactic, but we really wondered what possible way the two companies might actually work together. While we’re still not sure exactly what they’ve got up their sleeves beyond co-marketing, these videos give us insight into the similarities between automotive and aerospace design and engineering.
