Mercedes has announced the official U.S. pricing for its the awesome AMG GT R sports car. The ride has a base price of $157,000 plus another $995 for delivery and destination. For the money you get a beautiful car with a handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine with dry-sump lubrication.

If you haven’t seen the Mercedes-AMG GT R on track so far, you have missed a very cool German bruiser. The car has a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 engine under the hood that makes 585 hp and can reach 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds.

I’m already a huge fan of the Mercedes-AMG GT S, with its combination of power, agility, luxury, and exceptional design. I honestly didn’t think that there would be a way to make this German sports car any better than it already is.

I’ve seen a few Mercedes-AMG GTs cruising around my town and they look fantastic. They also sound very good. In fact, they sound a lot like an American muscle car to my ears. Mercedes is teasing an even better looking and faster version of that car for a world premiere on June 24.
