Mercury

It’s strange to me that Mercury was still making cars as recently as 2011. I had it in my mind that Ford retired the brand long before that. While I don’t remember Mercury offering any car that I liked since the Cougars and Capris of the late 60s and early 1970s, it sure would have been interesting if they had ever produced this sports car they showed off back in 2003.

The last few times we talked about Icon has been when the company whipped up a pair of very cool off-road vehicles with the Icon BR that looks like an old Ford Bronco and the restored 1965 Kaiser Jeep.

You may not be familiar with the Mercury Cougar of the ’60s, but it was a very near clone to the Ford Mustang. The Cougar had some cool special versions too and one of the most interesting was the Cougar Eliminator.

Rat rods are nothing new. They have been around for generations. Essentially these are powerful hot rods that are pieced together from various bits, and have a ratty, rough finish when complete. This particular rod is part 1947 Chevy and part 1995 Mercury Cougar.
