Off the line, a superbike will pull away from an F1 car, but the motorcycle rider better enjoy it while it lasts. As this excerpt from UK TV show Speed with Guy Martin attests, an F1 car has the upper hand in a race against even the best superbike racer.

I am a huge Ariel Atom fan. Those little cars are far from cheap, despite the minimalist nature of them, but they can be incredibly fast with the proper driver behind the wheel. I want one pretty badly.

It takes a certain amount of bravery or a certain lack of preservative instincts to simply make the decision to ride a motorcycle. It takes the same traits on an entirely distant order of magnitude to attempt high-flying, never before done stunts on one.

This might look like a disembodied pontoon fender from a sporty 1930’s roadster, but it’s actually a brand new BMW motorcycle concept by Mehmet Doruk Erdem. Erdem is a digital artist and designer who clearly likes imagining futuristic products (especially bikes) with a splash of retro.

Lots of people don’t ride motorcycles because the risk of a 70 mph impact is a little too much to bear. Virtually nobody tries to jump over motorcycles at 70 mph, because that’s bloody lunacy. Not only does the driver take a large risk of horrifying dismemberment, but the jumper takes that risk even more.

Taking aim at track-day roadsters like the Ariel Atom, Polaris has just taken wraps off of its latest vehicle, the Slingshot. But instead of being a street-legal automobile, it’s actually classified as a motorcycle. This three-wheeled roadster is designed to let driver and passenger sit side by side, just inches from the ground.
