I use a GPS device a lot for my day job. More than a few times, I have been overly distracted trying to find an address and not paid as much attention to the road as I should.

A few weeks ago, I got to drive a friend’s 2015 Chevy SS on a four-hour road trip to the race track. The car was tons of fun to drive, and got terrible fuel economy. With all that power under foot, I gladly overlooked the 15 mpg on the highway.

Earlier this year, Jaguar Land Rover introduced a concept technology called the “transparent hood” – which lets drivers see virtually through their hood to obstacles on the road below – which could be very useful in off-road applications.

Heads-up displays are a really convenient way to monitor your speed, GPS directions or other information while driving. However, only a handful of production vehicles offer heads-up displays as an option. Navdy hopes to change that, by offering a portable gadget which lets you add a heads-up display to any vehicle.
