Nissan Pathfinder

Nissan has announced a new addition to the 2023 Pathfinder lineup. The new trim is called Rock Creek, and it’s aimed directly at buyers seeking off-road capability along with rugged style. The Pathfinder Rock Creek comes in four-wheel-drive only and has off-road-tuned suspension featuring a 5/8-inch suspension lift.

The Nissan Pathfinder has been a solid and popular SUV choice ever since it debuted back in 1985. Over the years, the Pathfinder has bounced between being a rugged body-on-frame vehicle to a more comfortable, unibody daily driver and back.

Despite some pretty big challenges in recent years, automaker Nissan is still alive and kicking, and hopes to bring new buyers and loyalists back to the brand as it gradually redesigns its lineup. In the last year, we’ve seen a new Sentra, and know a new Rogue, Pathfinder, and Terrain almost sure bets for 2021.

Today’s tale begins with the background behind this crazy caper. Instead of going to Japan to visit my wife’s family like we normally do annually, they opted instead to come to the States this year. That’s all fine and dandy in my book, but there was one stipulation: They were flying into LA instead of Cincinnati, and all four adults and two children wanted to go on a “Wild West Road Trip.”

Seven-passenger SUVs are everywhere. Look out your car window right now, and I’ll bet you’ll see one. One entry in this segment may not roll off the tip of your tongue, but that has upped its game, is the Nissan Pathfinder.

Mid-cycle refreshes are typically boring. It’s the time in the life of a car when the manufacturer does a few changes – mostly cosmetic – to make the car look new and fresh until they have the time to replace it completely.
