Porsche Cayenne

Car companies’ attempts to turn crossovers into ragtops have resulted in such unholy creations as the Nissan Murano Crosscabriolet and the slightly more successful but still odd Land Rover Evoque Convertible. Well, it turns out that Porsche also tried their hand at making a convertible crossover.

Porsche is certainly no stranger to the Nürburgring. The automaker has run various road cars there during testing and race cars during racing events. Recently, the Performance model of the Cayenne went to the racetrack to try and grab the lap record for a production SUV.

Porsche has pulled the wraps off the Cayenne Coupe, a new version of its popular Cayenne SUV with a raked car-style rear, but that isn’t actually a coupe. The new model looks fantastic and takes away the ugly and bulky rear I never liked about the regular Cayenne.

Fresh for the 2019 model year, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo looks like it could be the performance SUV to beat once again. Over its lifetime, the styling of the Cayenne has gotten cleaner and more modern, and the 2019 models continue to evolve their design in this direction.
