Watching a live race, it’s always impressive to see how vehicles manage to move out of their starting positions throughout the course of the day. But during the opening race of the 2014 Blanc Pain Endurance series, Nissan driver Al Buncombe managed to advance a whopping 18 positions by the end of the race’s first two laps.

One place on Earth that we don’t necessarily associate with supercars is Lebanon. But there is a dedicated group of Ferrari, Porsche and other high-end car owners in the country, leading to an annual get-together of some of the nation’s finest vehicles.

Chris Harris of /DRIVE gets behind the wheel of a new McLaren 650S and puts it through its paces on the 3.3 mile Ascari circuit. The 650S has a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 that generates 641 horsepower and Harris is able to easily get the back end to come around in the corners with a quick tap on the accelerator.

Here’s some great POV footage of a race in Russia in which competitors drive cheap hatchbacks, at times driving dangerously close to one another. While it’s clearly not as fast as dirt track racing here in America, these guys have to deal with many more hairpin twists and turns, and thick clouds of dirt, rocks and mud flying in their faces the whole time.

While you can watch a hillclimb race from the sidelines, there’s nothing quite like the perspective you get from inside a race car as it comes perilously close to embankments and speeds past the crowds. In this video clip, we get to ride alongside driver Jovan Acimic in his BMW-powered Osella PA20 as it takes to the hills of Buzet, Croatia, during the 2013 FIA European Hill Climb Championship.

Take a lap of Italy’s renowned 3.6 mile Monza circuit with Ferrari driver Alexander Martin as he prepared for the first race in the European series of the Ferrari Challenge. Driving a Ferrari 458, Martin drives us through the lines, braking points, and gear selections on the track.

Check out this seat-of-your-pants drift footage shot from inside a Running Free Toyota AE86 Corolla Levin drift car as it hits the Tsukuba circuit outside of Tokyo, Japan. If the track looks familiar to you, that’s because it’s been featured prominently in racing games from Forza to Gran Turismo and many others.

Stevan McAleer didn’t have the starting position he wanted at the Continental Tire Series race at Sebring International Raceway. Although he had the fastest qualifying time, a technical issue during the post-qualifying inspection meant he started in the last position.

NM2255 takes us inside the latest build of the Radical RXC. In the clip, we get to ride along for a few laps on Italy’s Monza circuit, powered along by an upgraded 480bhp 3.0L V8 engine that we didn’t even know was an option.

After teasing us with footage from outside a Ferrari LaFerrari, Marchettino is back with another jealousy-inducing video clip. This time, he takes us inside the cockpit of the elegant, 964 horsepower hybrid supercar, as it chases down an Enzo through the scenic hills of Italy.

Simon Pagenaud may be more comfortable behind the wheel of his Indy Car, but he’s got to keep busy during the off season and he’s certainly more than capable behind the wheel of a Peugeot 207 rally car.

Some entertaining in-car footage shot from the passenger side of driver John Cardoo’s 1974 Austin Mini as it zipped around the track in Ireland’s HRCA Championship back in 2011. Despite having some traction issues with the differential, it’s still great fun to experience a race from the inside of such a stripped-down little car.

Follow Hubert Hahne around the historic Nürburgring Nordschleife in 1967 as he drives his 2.0-liter BMW-powered Lola around the circuit. And, as a bonus, you’ll probably improve your German if you pay attention. Actually, it’s surprisingly useful to have the commentator show the course map and what’s coming up then seeing it happen from the driver’s perspective.

Ok, you can’t get there that fast, except in a time-lapse video, which is exactly what we have here. Artist Maurizio Sera took a road trip from Hollywood, California to Washington, D.C. and snapped an image every two seconds for the duration of the drive.
