Dodge Van Racing is Japan at its Best

Dodge Van Racing is Japan at its Best
Japan is home to both some very cool things, and some very weird things. One of the coolest things is a racing series that sees Japanese drivers hooning old short-wheelbase Dodge vans around a racetrack. Apparently, the sport grew out of a common practice for motorcycle racers to buy these vans and use them to haul gear and bikes to the track.

Volkswagen e-BULLI Is a Classic VW Bus with an Electric Heart
The Volkswagen Type 2 bus is one of the most iconic and collectible vehicles of all time. It was quirky and slow, but incredibly charming, and actually pretty versatile. Now, Volkswagen has transformed one of these classic microvans into a modern electric vehicle.

Race Driver Takes Rental Van to Nürburgring to Break a Record

Race Driver Takes Rental Van to Nürburgring to Break a Record
When it comes to allowing you to run what you bring on a racetrack the Nürburgring is the place to go. Turn up in a rented cargo van at most tracks in the US and they won’t let you into the paddock, let alone onto the track.

Racing a VW Van on Its Side

Racing a VW Van on Its Side
I keep meaning to attend the 24 Hours of Lemons. This real-life Wacky Races features a whole bunch of modded beaters that all started life as mass-produced, street-legal production cars. This year’s most notable entry had to be the Trippy Tippy Hippy Van, a crazy customized Volkswagen van put together by Lemons legend Jeff Bloch, aka “Speedycop” and his gang of outlaws.

USPS Looking for the Delivery Van of the Future
If you live in a rural area of the US, odds are the mail gets delivered in either a right hand drive Jeep Wrangler owned by the post office or whatever vehicle your rural carrier owns personally.

Audi Restores 1956 DKW Electric Van
Producing cars from 1916 until 1966, DKW was one of the four companies who eventually merged to create Audi. One of the more interesting bits of history of the company was an electric vehicle that it produced all the way back in the 1950s.

Awesome 1964 Ford Econoline Van Restoration

Awesome 1964 Ford Econoline Van Restoration
The Ford Econoline vans from the 1960s have the sort of looks that only a mother could love. With the cock-eyed split front grille and headlights, the driver’s seating position over the front wheels, and the look of a giant box rolling down the road, it’s a van that could only appeal to tradesman and, maybe, Scooby Doo and the gang.

The Van

The Van
Vans might not be the most exciting vehicles on the road, but next to 18-wheelers and pick-up trucks, they’re the backbone of regional commerce in much of the world, hauling goods from warehouses to businesses and homes, and shutting kids to soccer practice.

Drag Racing VW Type 2 Single Cab Microbus
This modified 1954 Volkswagen Type 2 (“Kombi”) Transporter is one of the more impressive wolves in sheep’s clothing that we’ve seen. Modder Phil Mizzi took his dusty old single cab mutant microbus and fitted it with a 2.9 liter supercharged Autocraft engine.

The Fanciest Van Ever Made

The Fanciest Van Ever Made
When we think of vans, we’ve usually got images of dirty, formerly white utility vehicles, or those awful 1970s Chevy and Ford vans that had airbrushed artwork, a moon-shaped window on the side and a scuzzy bed in the back.
