Chevrolet took its all-new 2019 Corvette ZR1 down to Virginia International Raceway and set the beast loose. The 4.1-mile circuit is described by many as the most challenging road course in the US. The 2019 ZR1 rolled away with the record for fastest production car lap at the track, besting the far more expensive, but less powerful Ford GT.

I’ve been to a whole bunch of tracks around the U.S., but I’ve yet to drive on – or even visit the Virginia International Raceway (aka “VIR”) But if I ever have the good fortune to do it, I can assure you that my lap will never approach the sheer brilliance of this one driven by race pro Bill Auberlen.

Mustang fans that like track days are salivating over the new Shelby GT350. This car will be something special and will be a straight up beast at track days around the country. To show off how the car will behave on track, Ford headed out to Virginia International Raceway with a new GT350 in tow.
