German Mechanics Break Tire Change World Record

If you have ever had to change a tire on the side of the road after a flat, you know how tiring and time consuming that can be. If you have ever watched racing, you also know that races can be won or lost in the pits.

A team of four German mechanics recently dominated the Guinness World Record for the fastest wheel change – without power tools. They managed to swap all four wheels on a Ford Focus in under 60 seconds. The team needed only 59.62 seconds to do the deed and have the car ready to hit the road.

The previous record was 1:28.85. While these are nowhere near the times that can be achieved with a pneumatic wrench, the last time I swapped wheels on my race car alone it took me the better part of an hour and there was a lot of sweating involved. Check out the video to see the team in action.
