Tesla Model S is the Most Popular EV in the U.S.

Tesla Model S is the Most Popular EV in the U.S.zoom in

Granted, I live in the heart of Texas, which is oil country, but I’ve seen only a couple of Tesla Model S EVs in the wild. I literally mean two. That is a very small number, but I haven’t seen any other EVs in the wild here. I guess that illustrates the point that IHS Automotive made recently that the Tesla Model S is the best selling EV in the U.S.

Tesla is mum on monthly sales numbers, but does give numbers on quarterly deliveries. The company says that it delivered 10,045 EVs in Q1 2015. Note that those are deliveries to dealers, not sales to customers. Still, after the number crunching, IHS thinks Tesla is tops in the U.S. EV market.

Keep in mind that only 8% of total U.S. auto deliveries in the quarter were EVs or plug-in hybrids.
