2017 Volkswagen Amarok Gets a V6 TDI Upgrade

VW has unveiled the updated 2017 Amarok mid-size pickup in foreign markets. The truck isn’t offered here and there is no indication that it will ever be, despite the fact that the mid-size truck market is booming in the US. The latest iteration of the Amarok is the first to have a V6 fitted in the history of the model.

That V6 is the 3.0L TDI unit that can be had in three power levels with 163hp, 204hp, and 224hp available. The truck is RWD standard, but can be had with 4-wheel drive or permanent AWD. Those 4WD models get manual transmissions with the RWD and AWD versions getting an automatic. In its most powerful configuration, it can tow up to 8,000 pounds.

The 2017 Amarok will land in Europe and other markets overseas in September. The interior of the truck has been upgraded as well, but no images of the new interior have been offered.
