The World’s Fastest Camera Car

It’s always tricky to film high-speed chases on film and TV, as the trucks used to capture the scenes are typically not as fast as the cars they’re following, and they’re usually not as good at cornering. In fact, some scenes are filmed at a slower speed and sped up in post-production to make them seem faster. But thanks to the guys at Chase Car Inc., fast action scenes can be captured from a sports car that maintain hot pursuit.

This specially equipped Porsche Panamera Turbo has a camera crane built onto its reinforced roof, and can top speeds of 100MPH with the camera in motion, and a crew of five inside. This rig allows it to capture footage above, at ground level, and to the side of cars thanks to its sophisticated computer controlled camera arm, which can extend up to 18 feet, and can swivel 360 degrees in just five seconds.
