2021 Hyundai Veloster N Gets a Dual-Clutch Gearbox Option
July 30th, 2020

Hyundai has announced details on the 2021 Hyundai Veloster N. While it’s much the same car it was in 2020, there’s now an optional eight-speed wet dual-clutch transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters for those who don’t care to row their own with the 6-speed manual. Hyundai says that the new transmission meets the N brand thermal capacity and endurance standards.
Along with the dual-clutch, you’ll also get launch control for minimizing launch times. Hyundai estimates a 0-to-60 time of 5.6 seconds with this transmission, which also includes a mode called “N Grin Shift,” that overboosts the turbocharger momentarily to push torque from 260 lb-ft. to 278 lb-ft for up to 20 seconds. Plus, every 2021 Veloster N comes with the Performance Package standard, so that means 275 hp, an electronic limited-slip differential, and the variable exhaust valve system, among other upgrades.
Hyundai has also confirmed that the car will feature standard N Light Sport Seats with an illuminated N logo. These seats are 4.4 pounds lighter than the previous seats, and have performance side bolsters to keep you in your seat while cornering hard.
The car also gains a new standard eight-inch display audio/navigation system, along with a slew of new standard driver assistance features, including Forward Collision-avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Warning, and Rear Cross-traffic Collision Warning.
Hyundai will also replace the Chalk White color with a new white exterior color in November. The vehicle still maintains the 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty and five-year/60,000 mile new vehicle warranty along with complimentary maintenance for three years/36,000 miles.
