Ford has revealed a new off-road focus package for the Ranger mid-size pickup called the Tremor Off-Road Package. The Tremor is as close to a Ranger Raptor as buyers stateside can get today. The automaker says that the package creates the most off-road-ready factory-built Ranger ever offered in the US.
The vehicle adds all-terrain capability without sacrificing everyday drivability, payload, and towing. Ranger Tremor has a lifted suspension with off-road-tuned Fox 2.0 monotube dampers and rear piggyback reservoirs. The truck also gets specially tuned front coil-over and rear leaf springs.
Tremor trucks boast 9.7 inches of ground clearance, which is 0.8 inches more than the base Ranger SuperCrew 4×4. Front suspension travel is increased to 6.5 inches and rear travel increases to 8.1 inches. Tremor buyers enjoy a 30.9-degree approach angle, a 25.5-degree departure angle, and a 24.2-degree breakover angle. Power comes from a standard 270 horsepower, 310 pound-foot of torque 2.3-liter EcoBoost, and the truck can still tow up to 7500 pounds and haul 1430 pounds of payload.
Tires are essential when off-road, and Ford fits the Tremor with 32-inch Continental General Grabber all-terrain tires, wrapped around 17″ painted dark rims. The new wheels and tires give the Ranger Tremor a one-inch wider stance than a standard Ranger.
Other features for the Ranger Tremor include hoop-style steps, rear recovery hooks, a painted grille, and optional hood and body graphics. Tremor buyers also get a six-switch auxiliary power pack to manage accessories like winches, light bars, and air compressors. There are also package-exclusive seats with Miko suede and black interior accents.
The Tremor package is available on XLT and Lariat trims, adding $4290 to the Ranger’s base price. Production will begin in early 2021.
