Geek out over This Sweet Blue Track-Built Mustang GT

I’ve had the privilege to drive some pretty awesome cars up in the hills above Santa Monica: a Porsche Boxster, a Mustang GT, a Nissan GT-R. Maybe that’s why I dig The Smoking Tire’s “One Take” series, where host Matt Farah meets up with fellow gearheads and their sweet rides and usually takes a test spin in the California mountains above Malibu and the Pacific.

Take this episode, featuring a gorgeous blue 2015 Mustang GT with some heavy track-focused modifications. Farah gets almost giddy piloting through the winding mountain roads, geeking out over the track-rat Mustang’s dialed-in suspension, beautiful exhaust note, direct steering, and immediate, snap-your-neck brake feel. Although Farah’s DIY filming set-up limits the visuals to in-car camera and a corresponding view out the front windshield, the clip captures the feel of cruising at speed in the hills under a beautiful blue California sky.

“Your car’s got the sound, it’s got great power, your chassis set-up is really spectacular,” Farah tells Michael, the Mustang’s owner. “It’s so planted, it masks the speed. You could get in so much trouble.”
