Horacio Pagani Shares His Story and Design Philisophy

Written by Kenny Hoeschen | December 17, 2013

Horacio Pagani is a former engineer for Lamborghini and the founder of Pagani Automobili, the Italian maker of astounding supercars like the Zonda and the Huayra. XCar had the chance to interview Pagani in his office. In the interview, he describes his love for the combination of design and technology that goes into automotive design. He also shares some of the car designs he created as a child, when he first discovered his passion.

As a young boy of 15, Pagani created his own motorbike with an engine pulled from a junkyard. He later designed Formula 2 cars, having never been to a race. He created them, instead, based on the regulations governing the design and making 70% of the vehicle himself. He further stresses the importance of having a “hands on” relationship with the materials and working with your hands in the artistic tradition of Leonardo da Vinci.

It worth watching the entire interview to hear the story of a baker’s son from Italy and how he rose to become one of the preeminent supercar designers of today.
