Watch a Mercedes A45 AMG Park Itself and Exit

Written by Kenny Hoeschen | May 31, 2014

The Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is far from the most luxurious Benz on the road, nor does it have all the latest technological innovations that Mercedes has to offer. However, it does have the new Mercedes-Benz Active Parking Assist system, which not only points out available parking spaces but also parallel parks the car and pulls it back out of the space again.

Using the system, as the driver proceeds slowly down the road, the car will indicate suitable parking spaces with an on-dash display. At the touch of a button, the car then steers itself into the parking space while the driver operates the accelerator and brake pedals. The car’s sensors continually monitor the distance in front of and behind the vehicle, but he driver remains in control throughout the process.

In this clip, a driver shows us how his A45 AMG is able to park itself into a fairly small space on a busy road. It looks like it performs quite well to us. But we’re not sure how it will affect the parking portion of a driver’s road test.
