Ferrari 488 Spider: 203 mph of Top-Down Fun
Ferrari has officially rolled out the retractable hardtop convertible version of the 488 GTB. It’s called the 488 Spider and it has the same 3.9L twin turbo flat-plane crank V8 that the GTB rocks. That little V8 is mid-mounted and packs 661 hp and 560 lb-ft. of torque.
All that power goes to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch flappy paddle gearbox. The 488 Spider promises to hit 62 mph in 3.2 seconds. That is only 0.2 second slower than the 488 GTB coupe. The Spider can reach a top speed of 203 mph, and sounds amazing getting there:
Ferrari is keeping some details back for now, such as the price. All details of the car should be unveiled in September when the grand debut of the 488 Spider happens at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Count on the 488 Spider being even more expensive than the $240,000+ 488 GTB.
