RAESR Tachyon Speed EV Makes a Buttload of Torque

We all know at this point that EVs can be very fast. All you need to witness that is to watch videos of the Tesla P100D embarrassing supercars at the drag strip. Driving the point home further, a company called RAESR is teasing an all-electric hypercar that aims to impress with much more electric power.

The car is called the Tachyon Speed, and it sounds insane – at least on paper. The torque number alone boggles the mind. I hear you screaming, “How much torque!”, how about 3,650 lb-ft?  That certainly qualifies as a buttload.

The car is said to have six direct-drive electric motors making over 1250 hp, and is very lightweight at 2950 pounds dry. All that power and low weight mean insane performance with 0-60 easily happening in under 3 seconds.

The car can go from 0-120 in under 7-seconds. A quarter-mile comes and goes in under ten seconds, and its top speed is rated at over 240 mph. A deployable downforce system makes 400 pounds of downforce at 150 mph in low setting and over 1,000 pounds of downforce at the same speed in its high setting. The car also promises over 150 miles of city driving per charge.

At this point, only a single prototype Tachyon Speed has been built, and there’s no word if or when the vehicle will ever go into production.
