Porsche Taycan Zooms Silently Through a Nürburgring Record

The 2020 Porsche Taycan has yet to make its way to dealerships, but it’s hotly anticipated as one of the best performing, and best looking pure electrics yet. As part of its pre-production testing, Porsche took a Taycan to the famed Nürburgring-Nordschleife to see what it could do.

The 600+ horsepower all-wheel drive EV managed to go around the 20.6 km (12.8 mi) ring in an incredible 7 minutes, 42 seconds, making it the fastest 4-door electric car to take on the challenge so far. Porsche was kind enough to share in-car footage of the feat, and driver Lars Kern put on quite the clinic:

They always tell you in track driving school that “smooth is fast,” but after watching that lap, we might want to add “…and silence is golden.”
