This Year One 1974 Jeep Cherokee Is a Brutish Beauty

It’s hard to believe it, but there was once a time when the Jeep Cherokee didn’t yet exist. It first came on the scene back in 1974, as a two-door version of the Jeep Wagoneer. If you love the look of these classic 4x4s, there’s one currently for sale up on eBay, and it looks pretty sweet.

Touted as the sportier alternative to the Wagoneer, the first Cherokee had a single, long window behind the B-pillar. This particular example looks to be in very good condition, with a few touch-ups like a new paint job, a reupholstered interior, and aftermarket speakers. It’s powered by an AMC 360 V8 motor with a 4-bbl carburetor, and a 4-speed automatic. It’s also got an upgraded suspension, and power disc brakes up front.

It’s got about 63,000 miles on the odometer, and is riding on modern BFGoodrich mud-terrain T/A tires wrapped around black steel wheels – which look ready to get a little dirt on them.

If you’re interested in this cool piece of Jeep history, it’s available with a very reasonable asking price of just $19,900 from Denver, Colorado seller Worldwide Vintage Autos.
