The RAM 1500 Classic Rolls into 2021

RAM understands that there are many people out there who want to buy a truck but can’t afford the soaring prices of the latest and greatest models. When it rolled out its more expensive fifth-generation RAM 1500 pickup, it continued to sell the fourth-generation truck at a reduced price, under the moniker “RAM 1500 Classic.” It looks like the Classic will once again be offered in 2021, giving buyers a more economical choice.

CarsDirect has discovered a dealer ordering guide that shows the Classic will carry over for the 2021 model year, although the price will increase by $250 for the base vehicle. That model is the 2021 RAM 1500 Classic Tradesman 4×2 Regular Cab starting at $30,145 with a destination charge. The same truck currently sells for $29,895.

Despite the slight price increase, that does make the Classic one of the most affordable full-size pickups on the market. It’s also about $3800 cheaper than the lowest-priced fifth-generation RAM 1500. The least expensive 2021 RAM 1500 is the Tradesman 4×2 Quad Cab that sells for $33,940. Both the Classic and the fifth-generation truck come standard with a V6 engine and have V8 options, while the fifth-gen truck also has a diesel option. Naturally, you’ll miss out on some of the fancier tech in the new truck as well, but this could be a good alternative to buying used.
