New 2022 Toyota Tundra Engine Teased

The current trend in vehicle reveals is not to show the whole car or truck until we’ve been teased to death with various bits and pieces in the weeks and months leading up to the actual reveal. We’ve already seen what the 2022 Toyota Tundra sort of looks like from the front. Now we have just the slightest glimpse at a new engine that’s coming to Toyota’s full-size truck.

The new engine will be called the iForce Max, and that’s pretty much all we know at this point. Currently, the iForce moniker is applied to the 5.7-liter V8, which produces 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft. of torque. You can bet that the new engine will make more power and probably be more fuel-efficient too. It’s almost a sure bet that the new Tundra will have something more efficient than the current 6-speed automatic transmission too. I actually wouldn’t be surprised to see Toyota do something with their hybrid experience at some point in the life of the new Tundra too.

For now, we’ll just have to keep guessing until Toyota reveals more. To keep up on news and information on the 2022 Tundra as it’s revealed, you can sign up on Toyota’s website or sign up for the 95octane newsletter, and we’ll share the news as we find out more.
