Rally Driving Lessons from Colin McRae

Written by Kenny Hoeschen | March 9, 2014

Colin McRae was a legendary Scottish rally driver who was awarded the title of Britain’s first World Rally Champion in 1995 and an MBE from The Queen for his outstanding achievement who, sadly, was killed in a helicopter crash back in 2007. This series of videos was recorded with McRae behind the wheel of one of his rally cars and sharing his racing knowledge.

McRae’s tips are detailed and informative and he covers everything from left-foot braking, using the handbrake, and power slides to handling jumps, stage starts, and pace notes. We’re impressed that the interviewer keeps such a calm demeanor as McRae speeds over jumps and tears around corners – even when he loses it a bit trying to show a specific technique.
