Unlikely Track Battle: Audi R8 vs. Renault Clio Cup

In what seems like another horribly imbalanced race, the guys at EVO put an Audi R8 plus up against a Renault Clio. Surely, the V10-powered Audi has the upper hand – especially with more than a 300 horsepower advantage over the little French hatch, right?

Of course, the Audi R8 plus is a stock street car with everyday tires, while the Renault Clio Cup is built out as a track car, its innards gutted out, and fitted with aerodynamic enhancements, upgraded suspension and racing slicks. Still, the Clio it has just 220 horsepower up front, and the R8 plus puts 549 horses behind its driver. On the other hand, the R8 weighs over 3,300 pounds, and the Clio Cup weighs almost 1,000 pounds less at 2,380 pounds. Plus, the R8 isn’t perfect in the corners, and the Clio Can be driven through turns much more aggressively. So perhaps the fight isn’t as lopsided as you’d think.

You’ll need to watch the video to see how things turn out, but suffice it to say, the Clio Cup holds up incredibly well in what should have been a completely one-sided challenge.
