707hp Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat Likely
The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT has been one of the most powerful SUVs you can buy. Now, word on the street is that Jeep will soon be benefitting from Dodge’s insane Hellcat engine for a future iteration of the Grand Cherokee.
Currently known as the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (or “Project K,”) the full-size utility vehicle would rock the same 6.2-liter, 707hp V8 Hellcat engine, and ZF 8-speed gearbox found in the Charger and Challenger Hellcats. According to a source for MotorAuthority, the Trackhawk will be able to launch its occupants to near 200 mph, and do 0 to 60 in an eye-popping sub-3 second time. Given the fact that it takes the Challenger 3.9 seconds to get there, I have my doubts about the latter number. After all, a Grand Cherokee SRT weighs 5,150 pounds – 900 pounds heavier than the Challenger SRT8 392.
Regardless, I have little doubt that the Grand Cherokee will eventually get a Hellcat engine, and it will be a complete badass.
