The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is one of the most famous vehicles in the world. The giant hot dog on wheels tours the highways of the land delighting everyone who sees it – and hopefully entices them to go out and buy some franks. It is one of the great food ambassadors ever created.

Now Oscar Mayer has created a decidedly new and totally rugged version dubbed the Wiener Rover, complete with a cool compartment that carries ready-to-eat hot dog and condiments. The official video is amazing, showing the Rover powering through mud, catching air off motocross-style dirt jumps and destroying a beautifully laid out picnic table. There’s one catch – while the original Wienermobile is a massive 27 feet long, the Rover is just 43 inches in length and it’s radio-controlled.

Only one Rover was built, and according to Oscar Meyer it will be touring the country this summer. So if you see a motorized hot dog flying through the woods, don’t run, chase it down and try and grab a dog for yourself.
