The familiar “ready to strike” cobra logo has been part of the Shelby family for generations, so there’s no question that it will appear prominently on the upcoming 2019/2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. The image here – posted on MustangG6.com’s forums, is said to be a shot of the GT500’s supercharged engine blower.

The 5.0-liter engine in the Mustang GT is known as the “Coyote,” but the engine in the GT500 is said to be called the “Predator.” The image came alongside a confidential document called “2020 MY North American Vehicle Program – Engine Oil Requirements.” A footnote on that document claims that the GT500 engine will use an Eaton-supercharged cross plane version of the Ford 5.2-liter engine. Rumors suggest that the GT500 could have over 800 hp and a dual-clutch transmission derived from the unit in the Ford GT.
