eLegend EL1 Is a Retro-Futurist EV Inspired by a Rally Classic

Would you like a sports car that looks like a modern, electric spin on a classic Audi Sport Quattro rally car? What if I told you there is one, and it makes more than 800 horsepower? Sounds great, doesn’t it? The eLegend EL1 is that car, and you probably can’t have one. That’s because they’re only making 30 of these awesome-looking cars, and they’re priced at $890,000 each. Yeouch.

The EL1 is the first car to be developed by Bavaria’s eLegend. The coupe has a striking, retro-futurist body formed with lightweight carbon fiber. It’s powered by a pair of electric motors for Audi-like all-wheel drive and produces a combined output of 816 horsepower. It’ll zoom from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.8 seconds, with a 200 km/h (104 mph) time of 7.5 seconds. Top speed is targeted at 300 km/h (186 mph).

Its 80 kWh battery pack provides up to 400 km range on the EU’s WLTP measurement system. That’s roughly 249 miles. However, if you drive any electric car hard, its range will decrease rapidly. Fortunately, it supports 200 kW DC fast charging through a charging door mounted under a flap on the hood. That’s not shown in these renderings but can be seen on the real-world prototype here.

The EL1 has a double wishbone suspension, adjustable dampers and stabilizers, and rolls on staggered 19″ and 20″ single lug nut, five-spoke wheels. The sleek coupe features aerodynamics like air channels that flow air through the hood, over the windshield, along the roof, down the rear window, and under the integrated trunk spoiler.

Thanks to its carbon fiber monocoque, it’s reasonably light by dual-motor, battery-electric standards, weighing 1790 kilograms (appx. 3946 pounds.) For comparison’s sake, a dual-motor Tesla Model 3 weighs 4065 pounds.

Chances are all 30 examples of this gorgeous EV are spoken for already, and they’re likely not going anywhere but Europe, but if you’ve got the money, feel free to inquire over on the eLegend website.
