Rare Fiberglass 1956 Volvo Sport P1900 for Sale
auctions | volvo | September 13, 2014
This classic 1956 Volvo Sport is a rare find indeed, with just 68 of the fiberglass convertibles built (and just 44 in 1956), this example is chassis #19. At the time the car was built, Volvo was looking a it as a competitor for the Chevrolet Corvette of the era, which Volvo’s president and founder, Assar Gabrielsson, had encountered on his travels to the United States. The Volvo Sport’s fiberglass body was fitted over a tubular steel frame and powered by Volvo’s 1,414 cc engine which produced 70 horsepower.
This one is for sale from Classic Park in the Netherlands. With an odometer reading of 18,809 kilometers (~11,700 miles), this one should have plenty of life left in it – assuming it was as well cared for over the past 58 years as it looks. You can purchase this one for €94,500 euros (~$121,877 USD).
