Racing DeLorean: The Race Car with Style

Doc Brown always said that he used a DeLorean as his time machine because he wanted to do it with style. I guess you can apply that same principal to building a race car. Sure, you could start with something like a Mustang, but why not do it with more panache, and use a DeLorean.

That is exactly what we have in this video from Rockstar Rides, a gull-winged DeLorean complete with racing seats, harnesses, and a roll cage. The car comes from Putsch Racing, and is intended for rally racing.

Sadly, the car still uses its anemic V6 engine, though it has been upgraded with a trio of Weber carbs to handle fueling. The 201 horsepower car has been stripped of excess bits, and weighs in at about 2500 pounds. Eventually, it will be fitted with a PRV racing engine that can push out 260 to 280 horses. Now that’s more like it.

The coolest part about the car is that its ear-rattling exhaust system spits flames. Though they should have made it happen at exactly 88 mph.

I’d drive it, how about you?
