Porsche Doesn’t Need No Stinkin’ Autonomous Carszoom in

I’ve said it many times; the thing that makes me the most uneasy about autonomous cars is the thought of taking the driving out of my hands. I like to drive; lots of enthusiasts do. We can rest easy knowing that while Google, Tesla, Ford, Audi, and a slew of other automakers want all things automated, Porsche doesn’t.

Porsche CEO Oliver Blume has simply stated, “one wants to drive a Porsche by oneself.” He is correct too. That said, Porsche will be widely adopting another popular technology, and will be incorporating hybrid systems into more of its vehicles.

A plug-in hybrid 911 is in the works along with hybrid version of all other models. Hybirds are needed to help Porsche meet fuel economy standards, and can improve performance. Porsche says its hybrid 911 will be able to go 31 miles on electricity alone. The Mission E electric vehicle will also help them meet their goals.
