Listen to the Hennessey Venom F5 Taxi for Takeoff

Hennessey Performance is working on what it hopes will be the fastest car in the world. The Venom F5 is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine that makes an insane 1817 horsepower in a car that weighs under 3000 pounds. The goal is to achieve a top speed of over 300 mph. The company has released a new video showing a Venom F5 performing high-speed aerodynamic and stability testing. While the car is traveling at over 250 mph in the video, Hennessey is clear that it is not undergoing top-speed testing.

Hennessey says the vehicle on the video is traveling fast enough that the F5 Mode is unlocked. That mode is activated when the car is traveling over 250 mph, but we don’t know exactly what that mode entails yet. What we do know is that the sound of the turbos spooling sounds like a jet taxiing for takeoff. We can’t wait to see if this car can break 300 mph.
