Range Rover Electric Waitlist Opens

Like most automakers, Land Rover is bringing more electrification to its vehicle line-up. Among their plans is a new Range Rover Electric model, which aims to bring all the luxury and capability we’ve come to expect while offering a fully electric powertrain. Now, those who are interested in buying the electric SUV can put their name on the waitlist.

With prototype testing underway, Land Rover aims to make the Range Rover Electric the quietest and most refined Range Rover ever, thanks to its electric motors and active road noise cancellation tech. We don’t yet have specifications on its horsepower, torque, range, or battery size, but the SUV will incorporate an 800-volt system architecture, enabling fast DC charging on public charging networks. And knowing Range Rover’s dedication to performance, I’m betting this thing will be as quick as a supercharged V8.

One thing that battery electric vehicles have to worry about is getting water into the battery compartment, and the Range Rover Electric is being tested in extreme conditions to ensure the system holds up in all kinds of climates and weather. As part of their testing, they’ve driven prototypes everywhere, from the icy cold of northern Sweden to the extreme desert heat of Dubai. Land Rover is so confident in its design that the SUV can wade in water up to 33.4 inches deep – just 2 inches less than the gas-powered Range Rover and deeper than most of us will ever encounter.

While we wait to see more pictures and detailed specifications for the Range Rover Electric, you can sign up for the U.S. waitlist here. Once you register, you’ll be contacted by a Retailer when they’re ready to start taking pre-orders.
