The Chicago Auto Show is one of my favorite industry shows. I’m not just saying this because I live in Chicago either. It’s really an awesome show for both the media and for car buyers, with aisles upon aisles loaded up with hundreds of great new cars.

Mercedes-AMG has unveiled roadster version of the AMG GT for fans of the car who prefer to take their high-speed runs and wondrous exhaust note with the top down. The Mercedes AMG GT Roadster is the more civilized of the two with the GT C Roadster being the hottest version in the line.

I’m all for track prepped cars that have splitters, louvers, and ducts that actually serve a purpose. I’m not sure if the spats and splitters on the Wald Sports Line Black Bison Edition Mercedes-AMG GT actually work but the car looks so fantastic I am willing to forgive if the aero bits aren’t functional.

Let’s hope we all get a chance to take the wheel of the 2016 Mercedes AMG GT-S. But in case that happy circumstance doesn’t arrive soon – or soon enough – the team at EVO took this beast for a spin on the seaside Anglesey Circuit track in Wales.

I’ll admit it: I’m a bit of a Mercedes fan-boy. I’m impressed by the company’s history, respect the dedication to automotive safety, love AMG’s craziness and willingness to make stupid cars like the R63, and am also a sucker for the trappings of the wealthy and dangerous.
