In a recent interview with CNBC, GMC global vice president Duncan Aldred talked about orders and reservations for the new Hummer EV pickup and SUV. According to Aldred, more than 65,000 reservations have been placed for the electric pickup and SUV to date.

We’ve known about the GMC Hummer electric vehicle for a while now. It’s an impressive ride that is big, bulky, and packs up to 1000 electric horses under the hood. GMC has been promising since they revealed the vehicle was a driving range of about 350 miles per charge.

GMC is celebrating the Fourth of July by offering up a new video of its Hummer EV pickup showing off its “Watts to Freedom” mode. Watts to Freedom = WTF, see what they did there? The mode is essentially a launch mode that channels all of the horsepower and torque from its three electric motors for maximum acceleration.

During the 2021 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction, the hammer went down on the very first production GMC Hummer EV Edition 1, bringing in a sizable donation for a worthy cause. The GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 sold for $2.5 million, and as it does with all charity auctions, Barrett-Jackson waived all fees and commissions typically associated with its auction.

Yes, General Motors is bringing back the Hummer. But rather than the gas-guzzling beast of yore, the new Hummer won’t use a drop of fossil fuel. Instead, it’s going to be a pure electric vehicle, sold under the GMC brand.
