A few weeks ago, I got to drive a friend’s 2015 Chevy SS on a four-hour road trip to the race track. The car was tons of fun to drive, and got terrible fuel economy. With all that power under foot, I gladly overlooked the 15 mpg on the highway.

Last year we reported on a crazy-fast, electric-powered 1968 Mustang Fastback “super muscle car” built by Austin, Texas-based Bloodshed motors, dubbed the Zombie 222 (222 stands for 2 motors, 2 controllers and 2 damn fast). The company founder, Mitch Medford, says his group is “trying to show the whole world what can be done with electric power in a gorgeous vintage muscle car.”

Automotive racing history is filled with stories of heroic drivers, incredible cars, and astounding victories. The non-profit Auto-Archives Automotive & Motor Sport Library and Research Center is working to preserve the rich history of the automobile and is working to create one of the biggest collections of automotive materials in the world.

The JOSS JP1 is an Australian, track-ready supercar that was first seen in public at the Melbourne Motorshow back in 2011. The car is expected to have very impressive performance figures. Powered by an all-aluminum V8 engine producing about 560 hp, the car is expected to go from 0 to 60 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.8 seconds with a top speed of around 211 miles per hour.

Filmmaker Damon Ristau is planning to make a full-length documentary movie about one of the most iconic and best-loved cars in history, the Volkswagen Beetle. This film will follow along the lines of his prior movie which focused on the VW Bus, aptly named The Bus Movie.
