Not too long ago, I spent a week driving the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer and rather enjoyed the little crossover. Now, I’ve taken some time to test out the Trailblazer’s cousin, the Buick Encore GX. The two vehicles share a platform, drivetrain, and other core attributes, but each model has decidedly different aesthetics, and the Buick gets access to a few additional tech features not found on the Chevy.

The previous generation Buick Regal GS was a pretty good car, but it suffered from awkward looks, and an uninspiring engine. That’s all about to change when the 2018 Regal GS hits dealers. For starters, the new GS looks fantastic – with a much improved overall design aesthetic, sharper and more dynamic lines, and sportier styling overall.

Buick has rolled out a new utility vehicle that is aimed at active users, which is something different for a company mostly known for appealing to older buyers out there. Clearly, Buick wants to lure in a younger crowd.

Frankly, today’s automotive marketplace offers few choices when it comes to drop-tops. Cruising convertibles for four passengers are particularly rare these days. The days of going for a drive, with no place to go, the top down and the wind in your hair are few and far between.

Buick isn’t one of the biggest names in the US auto market these days, but it is making a bit of a comeback. One of its more popular cars is the Verano, but word is that it’s on the way out.

Not too long ago Buick unveiled the Avista concept. It set hearts aflutter, and we all hoped the car would actually be built. This was the first and only really cool car Buick has had since the Grand National of the late ’80s.

Buick showed up at the 2016 North American International Auto Show with an awesome surprise. The Buick Avista Concept is arguably the sexiest Buick ever designed, looking more like a Jaguar or an Aston than a car you’d ever expect to come out of GM’s until recently conservative mid-range automaker.

When you think of the Buick brand, a day at the track isn’t exactly the first thing that pops to mind. But I’m here to tell you that Buick is waist-deep in the midst of a renaissance, offering cars that aren’t just more stylish than ever before, but are actually enjoyable to drive. 

Back in the day, Buick used to make some very sweet performance cars like the Grand National. Today, the automaker doesn’t have much in the way of performance excitement, but the brand is aiming to appeal to a different crowd now.

You would think that most cars made in America are made mostly from American parts. But you’d be wrong. In fact, according to Cars.com’s 2015 American-Made Index there are currently just seven out of the over 100 vehicles made in the U.S.

We’re big fans of bespoke automaker Jonathan Ward, and his rolling works of art are something we dream of one day being able to afford. Known best for his masterfully modified reinterpretations of Toyota FJs and Ford Broncos, Ward has also branched out into the “derelict” market, reviving sun-baked old vehicles by capitalizing on decades worth of wear-and-tear to stunning effect.

The Buick Avenir concept first broke cover last month at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. But it was pretty swamped with reporters during the show, and there was little opportunity to get really close to the car, let alone sit inside of it.

While our tagline here at 95octane is “Cars that Don’t Suck,” every once in a while, we’re guilty of posting a car that does suck. This is one of those times. You only have to go to one custom car show to know that what some people think is cool, most of us see as a big pile of no.

In today’s highly-connected, leak-happy world, there aren’t often that many surprises at today’s auto shows, Buick definitely caught us off guard at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show with their new concept car, the Avenir. Designed to be the automaker’s vision for a flagship sedan, the Avenir certainly looks the part.

One’s mind doesn’t immediately go to the Buick Encore when considering a rugged off-road vehicle to participate in a brutal race like the Dakar Rally, but that’s what Buick is doing under their European brand, Opel.
